Universal Active Power Control Converter for DC-Microgrids With Common Energy Storage

This paper presents a battery integrated Power Flow Controller (PFC) which is found effective for the interconnection of several dc microgrids. The configuration offers delicate control over load-flow and also provides way integration Common Energy Storage (CES) to adjacent grids. CES more when both grids have surplus or deficit power compared their individual storage capacity (if any). In this paper, Universal Active Control Converter (UAPCC) proposed (which basically three-port converter), where port-1 connected in parallel with line, port-2 series port-3 through bidirectional dc-dc converter. Relevant algorithms been developed operation such system satisfying various requirements that are inevitable methods allow decoupled three ports flow between independently. complete along initially verified computer simulation using MATLAB/SIMULINK. Thereafter, prototype laboratory at 380 V level experimentally validate concept. results show effectiveness UAPCC microgrids CES.
